Study Information MA Music Performance

In the Master’s course in Music Performance, students achieve artistic maturity with their instrument or voice. Their objective is to become professional musicians.

The heart of the course is formed by instrument or voice training. Students build up a demanding repertoire and are able to understand works in their context and interpret them or, in the case of jazz, to rework them. They develop a high degree of musical flexibility and can put ideas into practice independently. Through numerous performances, students broaden their range of personal experiences and their professional network.

In the Master of Arts in Music Performance/ Conducting Wind Instruments / Brass Band Conducting the students reach artistic maturity. The goal is no less than to conduct high-class wind ensembles, orchestras and bands nationally and internationally. BA Music Classical

The musical compositions of the past and present require technically and artistically well educated interpreters for their performance. A broad musical education is combined with the students` own artistic orientation, placing focus on independence, responsibility and awareness of historical contexts. The breadth of the education and the BUA`s interdisciplinary focus prepare the musicians for a market increasingly defined by niches.

Admissions Procedure.
If the conditions for admission are fulfilled, the applicant's aptitude for the degree is tested. This test comprises an individual practical test and a theory exam. Artistic quality and expressive potential, the knowledge of basic music theory and the ability to concentrate are assessed. For the Major in Composition, the conceptional quality of planned independent work is also tested. Singers and instrumentalists must also show exceptional musical and instrumental/vocal talent or an advanced mastery of voice/instrument.
